It’s a fun useful app, but having at least basic knowledge of katakana/hiragana is an absolute must otherwise you’ll be lost. Definitely worth a download.

Love this and the hiragana app! My child always asks to play it...and has started applying it to read Japanese story books. Would love to see expanded vocabulary in future versions and perhaps katakana words which are actually used in Japan. Instead of akachan, maybe use appurupai,(Apple pie) kohi (coffee) miruku (milk) keiki (cake) etc. so the learner can actually apply the katakana to real-world experiences.

Thank you for making this app! I know it's for kids, but I am a 30 year old English speaker that has learned a considerable amount of katakana from your application. I also learned the words from this app. A-a-akachan! A! A!

Excellent and fun app for learning katakana!

Helped me out a lot!

My son loves this app, and has learned a lot from it, but ever since the last update it no longer makes a sound when you complete a line when drawing the symbols- he keeps asking me why it's not making the sound anymore and doesn't even want to use the app now that the sound is gone. Is there any way you can put the sound back in?

I was so confused when i learnt Japanese for the first time. I thought it was hard to write the letters. But then I found this app and this changed my mind. Now writing Japanese becomes so easier! The step-by-step explanation is what I love from this app. But it would be much better if there is an explanation in English--because I am a beginner and can't understand what it says in Japanese.

Seems like it's made for Japanese children, but still helpful for me in learning katakana!

Okay well for those of you who want to learn how to write in katakana, click on the first option in the app, and then click on any of the options listed to do (like the: a, i, u, e, o, or ka, ki, ku, ke, ko, etc) and it'll teach you how to write it!!! Hope this helps!! (:

The whole purpose of this app is to give you practice with the Japanese alphabet in katakana. Just like in english you have to know your alphabets. If you want to know symbols go study the Chinese kanji for words since that's where most of the words that don't fit with hiragana or the katakana come from.

I think it's meant more for Japanese kids, but it's kind of helpful used alongside other apps or learning tools.

Personally I hated it. I learned nothing. You would be better off just googling the katakana alphabet and learning how to speak the language. I would not advise this app for anyone trying to learn Katakana.

I'm here to learn katakana, I was expecting flash cards and writing practice. Of course it did have some, but I need to learn all of them.

Best app for learning letters i have yet found!

This app is awesome! I got it to help me with my Japanese class (since I'm a little bit of a slow learner) and it has helped me a ton. The only downside is that it goes a little fast when you first get started but it's still an amazing help.

I love this app! It's my favorite learning tool! Please, please make a kanji app!
